Original Painting of the Connecticut Riverbend by Patrick Shugrue, used by permission.One Book on the Riverbend began as One Book, One Middletown in 2003, established by the Middletown Rotary Club as a community literacy project.  Rotarian Pat Tucker initiated One Book, One Middletown and ably led and grew the project from 2003-2015.  In 2016 the name of the project was changed to One Book on the Riverbend, to reflect the growing number of community partners involved in the project, including libraries in the towns of Cromwell and Portland.

The goal of One Book on the Riverbend is simple…to get our communities to read the same book at the same time and then encourage them to talk about it.  By doing so, we hope that more people (especially more young people) will grow to enjoy reading.
